About Pen Plating
Many styles of pen and pencil kits have different finishes in them. Please see below for a description of these finishes.
24k Gold Plate. This bright pure gold plate gives your pen a rich and luxurious look. It is covered with an epoxy coating for durability. Guaranteed to be a beautiful and long lasting finish.
Brushed Satin. A very durable low lustre white metal plating gives your pen a subtle and elegant look. Compliments most acrylics and many wood species.
Platinum. This is actually Rhodium. Rhodium is an exquisite valuable precious metal from the platinum metals group. Rhodium’s brilliance, hardness and beauty have made it a favourite with pen turners worldwide.
Titanium Nitride (TN). TN looks just like 24k gold and is absolutely permanent. It will even outlast our standard 24k gold finish.. All TN kits are stamped with our ‘TN’ indicia on the pen clip for authentication..
Black TN. This is not actually black in colour. It is more of a gun metal colour. As durable as the gold TN.
Black Enamel. An attractive low lustre black coating. This baked enamel coating is very striking and durable. Provides an excellent, elegant look with most woods and acrylics.
